Devil's Stone InnShebbear
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
New owners took over the pub early in 2021 and have breathed new life into it which the local villagers are enjoying. This 17th century former coaching inn at the heart of the village is a warm, cosy venue with wood beams, flagstone floors and several open fireplaces. The single bar has four handpumps serving two regular ale and two guests. plus Sam's cider from Winkleigh in summer. Apparently haunted, there is also a large garden, games room and separate dining room. In the church opposite you will find the Devil's Stone that is turned every year on 5th November to ward off evil spirits. The introduction of a small cafe/tea room adjoining the pub is proving very popular.
