See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Captain Jack's was converted from Woolacombe's original old farm buildings which have been on this site as early as the 12th Century. The circular stone pillars that form the central courtyard can be seen surrounding the Beer Garden. In 1170ad William De Tracy, one of four knights who allegedly murdered Thomas A Becket in Canterbury was caught hiding there, and executed. Folklore has it that his ghost still roams the beach, cursed forever to weave an impossible chain of sand along its length. From November until Spring the pub only opens on Saturday & Sunday and times will vary.
