The Half Moon is one of the few original fishing inns remaining in Devon. It dates from the 16th Century and is Grade 2 listed. It overlooks the Torridge Valley and is situated in picturesque countryside. Sheepwash was once a thriving market town in the middle ages. Now it is a small rural village with a vibrant community spirit where peace and quiet reigns even in mid-summer. After the closure of the village shop, the pub created an area within the pub to serve the locals (see website for opening times). The pub is dog-friendly, although only allowing them into the guest accommodation and bar area. A magnificent log fire is a focal point in colder weather and the unique village inn atmosphere creates an ideal setting for visitors and locals to mix. Four real ales are regularly featured from St Austell, Sharpe's and Otter breweries. The pub has a popular, diverse and seasonally changing home cooked menu, together with an extensive global wine list.
