Dating from the 12th Century and containing a number of interesting historical features, The Stag is reckoned to be the oldest pub in Devon. It reopened in March 2018, following a sympathetic refurbishment and under new ownership, following an 18 month period of closure. Flagstone floors, a large open fire, cosy informal eating areas and a very well stocked bar, coupled with the enthusiasm of the new owners, make this a pub to seek out. Three changing ales and three or more ciders, are all sourced locally, while good, locally sourced and freshly prepared food is served. Beer bread, a delicious house speciality, is freshly baked each day.
